Classes @ The Animal Behaviour Centre

The Animal Behaviour Centre holds group, family, corporate and individual classes to suit individual needs. These include:

Companion dog classes - basic obedience for puppy, adolescent, adult as well as senior dogs.
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards at all levels of Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold
Fun classes such as agility, flyball and scenting
Kindergarten and Puppy classes
Assistance and Therapy Dogs – for dogs that are required to learn tasks to aid their handlers
Individual classes – help with specific requests such as recall
Individual behavioural therapy to allow dogs to cope better with life

Classes are usually carried out at our centre here in Northwich but home visits can be arranged.

Behaviour Consultations

We run regular behavioural consultations on either a family or 1-2-1 basis; these can be by veterinary referral or by private arrangement. The consultations are confidential and can cover any issues you may be experiencing with your pet. These are usually carried out at our centre in Lymm but a home visit can be arranged. So if your pet suffers from anxiety, stress of phobias such as separation anxiety, hostility or housetraining then why not contact us?

Puppies are accepted once vaccinated. Their training and socialisation incorporates the Kennel Club Good Citizen Puppy Foundation.

Throughout our range of classes, we integrate The Kennel Club's Good Citizen Dog Scheme and run special courses for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

Regular assessments decide when a dog should move on to the next class and on completing the pre-bronze class they start to train for the Kennel Club Bronze Award The pre-silver class continues with the exercises already taught but at a higher level and with Obedience Exercises such as the formal retrieve and distance control. These are more strictly assessed.

A new member, who has not been through the puppy class, will begin in the Assessment Class. This is to introduce handlers to our policies and aims, the 'vocabulary' and terminology that we use and the methods that we use to begin to train our dogs.

During the training sessions agility training is available, the arrangements for this are announced as they become available.

The Adolescent Class has been developed to provide a bridge for those dogs that have moved out of the Puppy Class and are still on the lively side of enthusiastic!

Having completed the Assessment, Puppy or Adolescent course, dogs move into a pre-bronze class where they build on the basics that have been laid down. This is seen as Companion Dog Training where the exercises attempt to address the areas required by handlers who want a well behaved pet dog. For example, loose-lead walking, the recall and general good manners continue to be taught.

We hold regular events to raise money for the RSPCA and other dog related charities, and have fun with our dogs. You are welcome at our summer and Christmas Fun Days and dog’s days out, with games and prizes, fancy dress and agility.
